Real TV is a Melbourne based company co founded by
writer Angela Betzien and director Leticia Caceres
Real TV’s award winning plays, Children of the Black Skirt and Hoods have toured extensively across Australia and in 2010 Hoods toured internationally to Dschungel Wien, Vienna and Cortile Theater im Hof, Bolzano. In 2011 RealTV toured the critically acclaimed production of Random by U.K playwright Debbie Tucker Green and War Crimes by Angela Betzien. The Dark Room was produced by Belvoir in a sell out season in late 2011. This production was nominated for seven Sydney Theatre Awards and received the award for Best New Australian work. RealTV is currently working on several new commissions with companies across Australia.
Leticia Cáceres has directed for Blevoir St Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company, Queensland Theatre Company, Sydney Opera House, La Boite Theatre/Brisbane Festival, Melbourne Arts Centre, Brisbane Powerhouse.
She is the co-founder of nationally acclaimed RealTV.
RealTV has toured extensively across Australia with Regional Arts Victoria, Queensland Arts Council, Come Out Festival and Barking Gecko and internationally to Italy and Austria.
Leticia’s other professional appointments include Intern Director and Associate Director for Queensland Theatre Company (2003-2004) and Artistic Director of TANTRUM Theatre (2006-2008). Real TV is currently under commission with MTC and Belvoir St. Their latest production Helicopter will open in August at the Lawler Studio, MTC.
Angela Betzien is an award-winning playwright. Her work includes Dog Wins Lotto (Queensland Theatre Company, 1997), Playboy of the Working Class (Queensland Theatre Company, 2001) Princess of Suburbia (Real TV, 2001), Kingswood Kids (La Boite Theatre, 2002), The Orphanage Project (Queensland Theatre Company, 2003), Children of the Black Skirt (Queensland Arts Council and Real TV, 2003) Hoods (Sydney Opera House:Ed and Regional Arts Victoria, 2006) Girl Who Cried Wolf (Arena Theatre, 2008 & Windmill Theatre, 2011) The Dark Room (Black Swan Theatre Company, 2009), The Teenage Alchemist (Camp Quality, 2009) and War Crimes (RealTV, 2011) and The Dark Room (Belvoir, 2011).
Children of the Black Skirt, Hoods and War Crimes have been published by Currency Press.
Pete Goodwin (THE SWEATS) - Composer / Sound Designer
Working under the name THE SWEATS, Pete is a composer and sound designer for theare, film, TV and advertising.
Pete has been the resident composer for RealTV since the company was formed in 2000, and has created scores for all their productions to date, including:
The Dark Room, Random, War Crimes, Hoods, Children of the Black Skirt, Chook, Do You Love Me?, The Orphanage Project, Kingswood Kids, Princess of Suburbia and The Suitcase. He has also provided soundscapes for productions at Queensland Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Malthouse, La Mama and Sydney Opera House. Pete‘s music and sound design for film, tv and advertising has been heard in major festivals worldwide, and in 2009 he wrote a suite of songs for SBS TV’s Saved. THE SWEATS is also a recording artist and DJ.
